Make Money from Blogspot (Complete Guide)

Blogspot blogs owned by Google have been around for years. However, there are a lot of assumptions and blogging gurus that says blogspot is one of the worst platform to start as a blogger.

They said that blogspot blogs have no authority and looks not professional.

But can you still make money from blogspot blogs? Short answer:

YES! you can still make decent money from blogspot blogs.

DO ADSENSE STILL WORK ON BLOGSPOT BLOGS?

Yeah, up to this date, I am still making money on a few blogspot blogs that I own.

I like to jump niche in blogging. Everytime I feel like to write something online I just publish it. I enjoy writing blog posts.

Although I make a few bucks from Google Adsense placed on my blogspot blogs, I can see the potential of it. even in recent years, Google search update are supporting awesome content creators.

What does it mean?

It means that even you have no authority in the niche or even if you have not enough backlinks compared to your competitor or even your content is just not yet riped on the web, YOU CAN RANK HIGH IN GOOGLE.

Many bloggers will state that Adsense is the easiest way to earn money from blog, but it is the least profitable way to monetize your blog.

ADSENSE/AD NETWORK - Easy, Least profitable

AFFILIATE MARKETING - Medium, Profitable

SELL YOUR OWN PRODUCT/COURSES - Large amount of work to create product, the most profitable!

But, If you are not that into selling your own course, adsense or other ad network is the way to go. You can setup the ads pretty easily in your blog and you can earn money instatly once it is setup.

IS BLOGSPOT BLOGS STILL RELEVANT?

Blogspot blogs can still generate free organic traffic from Google if done correctly. Let me brief you some of the best ways to do it.

KEYWORD SEARCH

When you do keyword search, just try to click on related searches. What you need to find is search results with blogspot blogs!

Results with blogspot blogs are weak and you can compete with them.

Don't get me wrong, in most cases, those results are also getting a good amount of search per month. What you need to bear in mind is don't believe 100% on Keyword tools.

Most of them get it wrong! We have tested most of them from LongTailPro to SEM Rush etc.

We are not trying to mock this keyword tools, but based on our experience, not only that the estimates are wrong, it can also lead you to bad decisions.

For example, we heard a blogger that wants to start a niche website and he planned to target the keyword: BEST JETSKI.

However, once he used the keyword tool and feeling demotivated to continue because he only get 1000 searches per month?

NO WAY! There is not possible that best jetski is searched 1000 times a month. Out of billions of people out there? It must be millions of them will try to find the best jetski to either watch reviews or read some articles on it.

What you need to focus is creating helpful content to rank better in Google. Forget backlinks on this stage of process.

CONTENT IS KING. DOES IT WORK?

Let me give you a motivation story on this. First off, you need to know the #1 ranking factor in Google. Surprise surprise! Its "RELEVANCY".

So what relevancy means in actual blogging world? If you google, "How to eat in a Thai restaurant".

You will get results on quite relevant articles published explaining the keywords thoroughly.

What if we narrow down for more. This time "How to eat in a Thai restaurant with peanut allergy".

Can you see where I am going? You will find less articles published explaining the correct context. The results are not specifically related to peanut allergy. If there is one they are more focused on Thai restaurant.

This is how you compete in competitive niches. Weight loss? Personal Finance? How to make money?

All of this highly competitive and saturated niche still have openings for you. You just need to be creative in narrowing down your articles.

This is also one of the reason I chose personal finance as my target keyword. Guess what, I am trying to rank in this niche using a blogspot blog?

Am I crazy to do such thing? No! Because I believe I can.

WHY BLOGSPOT IF I WANT TO START BLOGGING?

Actually I have been blogging for more than 10 years. But I like to jump between blogs since I am constantly changing passion.

Based on my experience, blogspot is very reliable like Youtube. When you start a website, you will need upfront 100 bucks to get domain, template and hosting provider.

When you start a youtube channel, you will only need a smartphone to start with. You don't need to buy expensive gears when just starting out.

Even videos taken by smartphone can get even 500k video views. The most important thing is your idea that you shared on youtube.  If you find a certain topics is very competitive, try searching for that specific keywords on youtube.

You will be surprise how low competition youtube is as compared to google. There are plenty of spaces for new and young youtube channels to get a piece of youtube traffic.

WHAT ABOUT BLOGSPOT?

Blogspot is free and the best thing is:

Your blog posts will be there forever! The same as youtube videos.

Even in paid websites, you need to maintain some expenses. If you post something on blogspot and leave it there, the content will ripe itself.

Just let Google decide where to rank your blog posts.

ULTIMATE STRATEGY TO RANK HIGH IN GOOGLE USING BLOGSPOT

I am a big fan of content marketing. But I am not into guest posting, blog commenting or even backlinking tactics even when you do in white hat way.

What I prefer is just creating content on your blog. If you still want to build backlinks, the best platforms for free organic traffic are:

  1. PINTEREST
  2. YOUTUBE
  3. REDDIT
Do you find something missing?

Yeah, I have not mention FACEBOOK! Facebook is making bloggers obsolete. Facebook does not play well with bloggers.

I have seen so many times that facebook pages with hundreds of page likes have as little as 20 engagements per post!

That's just sucks for online marketing channel. Facebook prioritize user experience rather than people who want to promote business.

If you can make extremely shareable content on your posts, you can do well. But for average marketer, you won't be successful on facebook without using FACEBOOK ADS!

WHAT ABOUT INSTAGRAM?

Instagram is not an ideal platform for us. It can hardly be automated. You need to keep posting, keep following and unfollow others and need great engagement rate to maintain decent reach once you post something on your page.

In addition, Instagram is owned by facebook, which I think will make instagram less blogger-friendly and more suitable for advertisers.

All 3 above (PINTEREST, YOUTUBE and REDDIT) are great to build your automated passive traffic sources for your blogs.

Those 3 once you setup something on it, it will stay there forever and the post/video/comment will promote itself.

In 5 years, the reach will compound and will produce massive traffic for years without your interaction.

You don't need to keep posting to get consistent free traffic to your websites.

Pinterest is good for instant traffic, youtube is great for consistent but has slower growth rate early on. While on reddit, you need to be very helpful when commenting so that it can be pinned high and get decent traffic from Google.

HOW TO GET TRAFFIC FROM BLOGSPOT CONSISTENTLY?

The idea behind it is to just keep creating content.

Spend 1 hour a day creating 1000 to 3000 long article. Repeat this process for a month, you will have 30 blog posts and just let the articles sit there for 6 months.

Google will crawl your blogspot blog, and once the done their experiments by sending some traffic to your blog, they will rank your blog high when you have enough, thorough, well research contents.

After the first month, keep creating another blogspot blog and keep some articles updated. 2 articles per week is enough to keep your blogspot blog updated.

When you wait for your content to ripe, make an effort to create a youtube channel.

DON'T LINK YOUR BLOGSPOT BLOG.

On youtube, you just mention the name of your blog on your videos. When your viewers google your blog, It will give signal to Google that your blogspot blog is something.

When people google the name, chances are your blog is important in the eyes of google.

People are searching for it!

It is one cool way to make your blog lively.

In reddit, you need to have an art when commenting.

BE LEGIT IN HELPFUL THE READERS

Don't be spammy like please click our link to get our course! That is just not right.

You need to answer questions on reddit like you have actual experience in it. If not, make sure you refer others that you have some experience with on that problems.

As your videos and comments get interaction, those traffic will snowball to the point that after 1 year of work, you will be satisfied with the time you invested.

YOU DON'T NEED TO PROMOTE YOUR BLOG POSTS TO GET TRAFFIC

Seriously, this is one of the misconception there is in online blogging. You don't need promotion to get traffic as long as your content is good.

Google is very smart in differentiating good content with bad content.

They have more than 2000 ranking factors to determine them. As long as you are playing with the factors that google like the most (relevance), you will do just fine to get ranked well.

Your time is based invested in creating good content rather than promoting blog posts. You will do better when keep creating helpful content.

HOW TO OUTRANK YOUR COMPETITOR THE CORRECT WAY

When producing content, avoid copy pasting. Be thorough in your post but stay in focus on the topic.

You need to cover all aspect of the topics. For example, if your blogpost is on "How to sing well"

You need to outline topics such as "How to have vibrato" "How to release inner voice power" How does you voice sound when you do this and that" "How long to practice singing well"

All these questions will make your blog posts so informative in the eyes of reader. If they keep reading your blog posts until the end, there is a great chance that Google will push your rank higher.

It shows that your content is relevant and solving people problems. Plus, you just created a content that people are searching for.

If you have the correct mindset to be helpful to others, you are on the right track.

Forget SEO for the time being. Google algorithm is more practical and more human in recent years. Their technique in differentiating relevant posts with the bad one is top notch.

Let the content ripe for months and you will see the results later on.

Good luck!
